❄️ January Learning & Activities ❄️

We are delighted with excitement to start the New Year with an energetic spirit. Happy New Year to you all! We  are extremely happy to see our students return to their classroom routines after the holiday break. We hope that was just what they needed to recharge their minds and help them look forward to more time with friends and teachers. We will learn about the annual calendar through songs we sing with each month in order.  They will learn about cold and windy Antarctica. Appropriate considering most of the country is in a deep chill at the moment. The children will learn about Antarctica’s geographic location, animals, and also weather patterns in other cold regions. They will all enjoy our story times with tales of winter and the fun of the winter season as well. They will continue learning information about hibernation patterns of animals, especially penguins. We will round off the cold winter theme by learning about the coldest states in the US.

And of course, we will continue using the amazing Montessori materials to help students learn primary skills and prepare them for kindergarten!

WELCOME ELLIE!

Finally, we will have a new friend joining us in January! Her name is Ellie and she is 3 years old, yes we will have two Ellie’s! If you see a new face please welcome Ellie and her sweet family who have recently moved to the area.

❄️ Toddler Learning & Activities ❄️

Hello Toddler parents!

We are excited for January and another chance to help toddlers discover new vocabulary with a new theme. We will learn about the winter season and use winter-themed trays to continue to learn to count, expose them to letters and their sounds and explore shapes. We will talk about Winter and winter weather information. We will talk about cold and icy habitats and places that get cold and snowy.

The toddlers will learn about animals that live in the cold like penguins and polar bears through books. We will also learn about animals that sleep through the entire winter, and that it is called hibernation. We will learn that these animals come back out in the spring. We will discuss why it's important to dress warmly in the winter and read winter-related books. And we will use materials as usual to encourage fine motor skills and concentration.
